Parenting Orders
A Parenting Order is a Court order that determines who looks after a child on a day to day basis (including shared care arrangements).
It also determines when the other parent/guardian or others can see the child and in what way e.g. face to face, by phone or video call.
Either parent can apply for a Parenting Order if there is a dispute over a child’s care arrangements. A Parenting Order can include a condition that the child cannot be removed from New Zealand.
